2nd Grade Policies
Money
Any money that your child brings to school should be sent in a sealed envelope with the following information on the front:
- child’s name
- child’s lunch number
- teacher’s name
- amount of money in the envelope
- purpose of the money
- date
Visiting the Classroom
Upon arriving to volunteer in my room or attending special events, please check in at the front office and obtain a visitor’s pass. This will help to ensure the safety of all children.
Late Arrival or Early Dismissal
If your child arrives late to school, he/she must be signed in at the front office and obtain a tardy slip in order to be admitted to the classroom.
If you want to check your child out of school early, you must sign him/her out at the front office. No child can be dismissed from the classroom without direct notification from the office.
Change of Transportation
If your child is to leave school any way other than their normal mode of transportation, I MUST HAVE A WRITTEN NOTE (NOT AN E-MAIL) SIGNED BY THE PARENT. I cannot take a child’s word that they are changing transportation for the day. Your help with this is greatly appreciated!
Change of Address, Phone Number, or Work Location
In order to keep your child’s records up to date, please let me know in writing when you have a change of address, phone number, or work location / work number.
Newsletter
At the beginning of the week, your child will bring home a newsletter explaining the topics we will study, important information, reminders, and homework.
Homework Policy
Your child will have a folder referred to as the “Homework Folder or Take Home Folder” to transport important papers to and from school each day. Please check for important papers in this folder nightly. This folder needs to come back daily with any papers or other information that you need to send in.
A homework packet will be assigned every Monday and will be due by Friday.
Student Planner
A student planner will be sent home daily. The children will write important information in it, and I use planners as a communication tool. Please use this planner to communicate with me as well. This is a great place to write messages for me, since I check planners daily. Your child’s planner should be initialed by you every night!
Progress Reports
The school year is divided into four nine-week grading periods. Progress reports will be sent home during each nine weeks. Please review each report as it is sent home. The reports should be signed and returned to school the next day.
Northeast Elementary Second Grade Grading System
Second grade will be utilizing a standards-based grading system this year. The grading system is as follows:
OT- On Track
AE- Approaching Expectations
BE- Below Expectations
Classroom Rules/Discipline Policy
In your back to school paperwork, I have placed the classroom rules. Please go over the rules with your child. After you and your child have gone over the rules, please sign and return the bottom portion to school.
